It is with heavy hearts, but also with many fond memories, that we say goodbye to our dear friend, Scott Fuller. Scott was predeceased by his parents, Peggy and Don Fuller. He was their only child.
Scott was born in Western Virginia (not West Virginia – he was very clear about that), and grew up in Charlotte, where he attended Carmel Academy and Charlotte Country Day School. Scott later attended Western Carolina and UNC-Chapel Hill.
It was in Chapel Hill that Scott found his home and an immense, chosen family of friends. He was a much-loved barkeep and became deeply involved in the local music scene. Scott never met a musician that he didn’t want to support, nor a dog that he didn’t want to pet. His love for music led him to create spaces wherever he worked for live music to happen. He was well-known to many a traveling musician who would stop through town to play a gig that Scott booked for them, often paying them out of his own pocket and putting them up for the night at his home. There are many highly successful musicians in the world today who were helped along the way by Scott’s undying love for the music. We always joked that his obituary would read that he was a patron of the arts, and so it does.
Scott was a deeply loyal friend to so many of us, and he will be remembered with much love. Although Scott’s journey was not an easy one, his beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives were touched by his kindness and caring.
He leaves us now with echoes of his laughter in our ears, songs in our hearts, and wagging tails.
